April 6 to April 10. Transitioning.

Hey All! How is everyone doing?

We will be on days 138-143 this week.

As we are beginning to wrap up a few things for the school year, I encourage you to find creative ways to learn and grow as a family. 5th grade will finish up their math workbooks this week. After they finish, I would like them to work on their 12, 13, 14, & 15 times tables... and any other they need reviewing. Perhaps just pick one table (1-10) and a second table from the (12-15) group for each day. Feel free to be creative in reviewing anything from the year.

1-3rd Math. If you would like to take a break from math facts and do 2 pages/day from the math workbook, that would work. That is what our family is going to do since they are review pages - but you can decide for yourself. Otherwise, you can finish the last review days over the summer as well.

5th will also be finishing up language arts. When the workbook is done, please finish up the year by writing a story! This can be fiction or based on facts.

1-3 Language arts. We are gong to do 2 days from language arts workbook and skip spelling words to finish up the year as well. Please do what suits your family.

For reading - we will just be continuing on with each day.

Science/Social Studies - Please review days or try some of the year end/summer projects. Or adventure and discover. I would love to see pictures of adventuring if you are willing to share! :)

Bible. Read chapter 3 & 4 of Philippians this week.

Bible verse : Philippians 4:7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

A Note : I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the blessings God poured out on BCS this year. Without us knowing, He prepared us for something we didn’t and couldn’t see coming. I have heard some really good things from the BCS community... about families really enjoying this time together and opportunity to make learning their own. We have so much to be thankful for. We live in a broken world... we all know this. And yet, if we look to Him and trust Him, He will continue to guide us... Not because we are perfect but because He is good.

Godspeed.

PS. Because our school year is really almost over, I wanted to let you know our family’s plan for summer books. I feel it is so important to do some form of learning and reading over the summer just so kids don’t forget simple math, letter sounds, etc. We will be doing the Brain Quest books from the year they just finished along with reading chapter books. If you want to borrow any books from the school, just let me know!

Freedom to Choose.

It’s crazy, but while we live in a ‘free’ country - many of us live lives that speak otherwise. We are bound by expectations and man-made plans. We do what we do mostly because that is what we are told or expected to do... and then something like this happens where we are given the freedom of time... and choices... a blessing most of us are not sure what to do with.
I can’t help but spend time right now reveling in the truth that we are created in God’s image... It doesn’t take much exploring of God’s creation to see that we have a very creative God. I truly believe somewhere within each one of us, whether it be building, sculpting, photography, painting, planting, music, crafts, writing, etc - we have a desire to create and explore, a sometimes very buried or hidden desire - but a desire... a yearning in our soul.
I’m so incredibly thankful for a break from the chaos. An opportunity to slow down and connect with God. I pray with all my heart - as a culture - we are able to let go of …

Philippians 3:1-11... Into the Unknown! :).. Sing it out!

I just wanted to elaborate on the beautiful scripture we read this morning. Philippians 3:1-11
Paul talks about how there is no human effort that can bring us to God, but that it is a gift given to us because of what Christ Jesus has done for us. And that although Paul, when he was Saul, walked a near blameless life as far as the written law, Paul now counts it as nothing because of what Christ has done - the infinite value in His love for us. And then the clincher: “For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.” -Philippians 3:9.
And this is where the Holy Spirit... the miracle of the Holy Spirit within each one of us comes to life. Faith being an intangible, untouchable, mystical element is not for us to hold onto or rationalize - the Holy Spirit acts as a bridge for our souls to connect with the mystical... and venture  “into the unknown!” :) yes, I even sang it this morning.
The Holy Spirit, Jesus’ presence multiplied infinitely because of His death on the cross …
